Another win for Dominant Hatfield
High tempo Team performance sees off Sandridge
Hatfield Town U25s continued their preparations for the start of the season on the 1st September, with a win over Sandridge Rovers Reserves, one of the best teams in the Reserve and Development last year.
The team's work rate was second-to-none and the squad showed exactly how hard they've been working every session. With 2 key players missing, in Howard De Silva and Josh Dickinson, it was down to Jaidon Doocey (1st Goalkeeper) and Sean Butcher (16 year old HTFC youth prospect) to fill in for the absentees.
Sean played out of his comfort zone, as the natural Central Midfielder filled in at Centre Back for the second game in a row, partnered with the always strong Jack Williams, who took charge of the Hatfield back 4.
The game started off very even, with Sandridge piling on pressure, that was dealt with as Hatfield maintanned a high tempo from the start. The game came to life when Aman Ghebru hit a volley first time, dipping over the keeper from 30+ yards out, only to bounce on the underside of the bar.
Man of the Match George Stewart scored the opener with a corner put in by Aman Ghebru, which George smashed home to make it 1-0.
Sandridge never looked like scoring, with a dink from Daniel
Norman headed off the line, and an excellent save from the Sandridge number 1 to deny Reece Stickland. The midfield 3 of Richie Tavner, Reece Stickland and Chris Maloney played excellently, with great passing to pull the Sandridge players about.
The second goal was scored by substitute Solomon Sharpe, who had another excellent game terrorising the opposition with his pace and dribbling. Sean Butcher skipped through half of Sandridge's players, and slipped a ball into Solomon which he ran onto, unfortunately for the keeper the ball popped up from the 50/50 straight to Solomon's feet, to put home.
Man of the Match was George Stewart, for his work rate and strength at the back.
